The SLORD Office together with its partners organises a regular international training aimed at developing the skills of research support staff called V4 Training for Research Project Managers.
The training has been held twice a year in Brussels since 2017, on the following dates:
- March-April (spring edition)
- October-November (autumn edition)
The organisation takes place in the framework of the V4 Research & Innovation in Brussels cooperation, which brings together the Brussels liaison offices for research and innovation of the Visegrad Four countries.
Who is the training for?
It is aimed at male and female employees of both public and private organisations involved in the promotion of research and innovation. These are mainly positions such as project managers, research administrators, project coordinators, project officers and clerks in project departments, technology transfer centres, etc.
The training is not intended for individual male and female researchers.
What is the goal of the training?
The training is designed to help the participants:
- better understand EU policies on research and innovation
- understand their impact on Horizon Europe projects
- make new contacts
- develop networking skills
- share examples of good project management practice
Program
It is usually 3 days long, in English and includes:
- presentations by speakers from European Commission organisations
- presentations by other experts and practitioners
- interactive activities

Who pays the costs?
The training itself is free of charge. Active participation in all training days is a prerequisite.
Travel costs are borne by the participant’s sending organisation.
How to apply?
The capacity of the training is 35 places – 7 for each country of the Visegrad Four and 7 together for participants from other European countries.
Applicants from Slovak organisations can apply for it following the call for applications published on our website. The application takes the form of an online questionnaire with basic information on work experience and motivation.
The selection process is currently CLOSED.We will open applications for the fall 2024 edition soon.

What do we expect from you?
- a basic understanding of the EU Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation
- at least initial experience of their operation
- an interest in developing your skills
- Your organisation’s clear intention to actively participate in Horizon Europe or previous experience of participating in a Framework Programme (Horizon Europe, H2020 or FP7) and the ambition to increase your chances of success.
Conditions for entering the call
- The applicant must be employed in a public or private research and innovation institution based in Slovakia
- The same person can only take part in the training once per Framework Programme period (EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation)
Rating
SLORD reserves the right to select applicants/candidates. Selection will be made on the basis of the information and motivation provided in the application form. I consider applications in the light of the target profile of the participants and our aim to provide this opportunity to as diverse a group of people and institutions as possible.
If the number of quality applications exceeds the number of available places, we will select a maximum of one applicant per organisation. In this case, we will also apply the rule of a minimum 50% representation of public sector organisations.
